About Me


I am Tamim Shahriar (Subeen). Currently working as the Managing Director of Mukto Software Ltd. I have also co-founded Dimik Computing School.

I can write code in several languages but my most favorite language is Python. In my university days, I used to code in C. I have solved around 500 problems in Valladolid Online Judge and C was used for all the coding.

I am also a volunteer of BdOSN (Bangladesh Open Source Network) and academic counselor of BdMO (Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad).

Apart from the regular activities I like music, books and movies. I also love writing and traveling. I mostly write in Bangla - my native language.

Strip HTML tags using Python

We often need to strip HTML tags from string (or HTML source). I usually do it using a simple regular expression in Python. Here is my function to strip HTML tags: def remove_html_tags(data): p = re.compile(r'<.*?>') return p.sub('', data) Here is another function to remove more than one consecutive white spaces: def remove_extra_spaces(data): p = re.compile(r'\s+') return p.sub(' ', data) Note that re module needs to be imported in order to use regular expression. Convert text to ASCII and ASCII to text - Python code

Python has a very simple way to convert text to ASCII and ASCII to text. To find the ASCII value of a character use the ord() function. Example: >>> ord('B') 66 To get a character from it's ASCII value use the chr() function.
